When Kathryn Carter was in second grade, she was sent to a private school for two weeks to fulfill a requirement for her religious education. As the “new kid” you might think she would be shy and retiring, sitting in the back with her head down and her mouth shut. Even then that wasn’t her inclination. She loved to talk and get to know those around her. So when the teacher entered the room, she found Kathryn standing on a chair in the middle of the room, talking to all the kids and answering a million questions.

So a job with GLT, where she got to know the individual donors and the corporate sponsors, and represent GLT throughout central Illinois, has been the perfect fit. Kathryn was Development Director from 1990 to 2008, enjoying being part of a team that helped the station grow and expand in listenership, esteem, and financial support. She has retired from that position but continues to work with GLT on special development projects.

In her spare time, Kathryn loves to travel with her husband Bill, spend time with her children and grandchildren, garden, play bridge and support numerous community organizations including the Friends of Constitution Trail.
