Linda Healy

Linda Healy, Events and Promotions Director

Phone: 309-438-5083
Email: lihealy@ilstu.edu

Linda Healy grew up in a Chicago suburb listening to Larry Lujack on WLS. She came to Normal in the 70’s to attend Illinois State University, where she earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art. Fresh out of school, with Art degree in hand, she went into banking.

After a few years of counting other people’s money, she decided to take the leap into self-employment as owner of The Ram, a specialty store in Normal featuring Linda’s custom-made jewelry and WGLT on the radio (then playing more classical than jazz). She created a line of handcrafted jewelry (professional name: Linda Isaacson) that was carried in galleries and boutiques across the country, as well as national retailers Nordstrom’s and Coldwater Creek.

After 20+ years of holding every title from CEO to Maintenance Engineer in her own business, Linda returned to ISU’s College of Fine Arts in 2002 as the director of Experiencing the Arts, a one-year grant-funded program of arts learning events that served over 5,000 children and their parents in that year.

Linda moved from GLT loyal supporter and volunteer to GLT staff in 2003 to fill the Events and Promotions Director position. As part of the development staff, Linda is responsible for editing of the GLT Guide and for coordinating the station’s fundraising special events. How can it get any better than throwing parties for a living?

If there’s any free time left, you can find her budging her teenager out of the way so she can play Guitar Hero (look out Stevie Ray), or sitting at the piano struggling with Chopin and Mozart and grateful for her incredibly kind and supportive piano teacher.

Jewelry-making is still her best therapist.
