GLT's 2008 guest for this annual event is veteran broadcaster Carl Kasell, whose career spans more than 50 years. He is the official judge and scorekeeper for NPR's weekly news quiz show, Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!®, which premiered in January 1998. Kasell's voice is one heard often delivering news during Morning Edition®, a role he has held since the program's inception in 1979.
Before his work with Wait Wait, Kasell hosted NPR's Early Morning Edition, a one-hour news program created in 1997 and incorporated into Morning Edition® at the start of 1998.
In 2004, UNC at Chapel Hill selected Kasell as an inductee to the North Carolina Jounalism Hall of Fame, which recongizes North Carolina natives who have made exceptionally distinguished and career-long contributions to the field of journalism.

Radio Faces™ has become one of GLT's signature events. This elegant evening begins with cocktails, appetizers, and one-on-one conversation with Kasell (at the $100 level), evolving into a superb sit-down dinner (at both ticket levels), followed by Kasell's presentation, in which he will share some of his experiences as a radio journalist for more than half a century.
The word on the street is that Carl is also an accomplished magician. We think the odds are pretty favorable that he'll consent to performing a couple of his favorite tricks at some point in the evening.
