Antenna Repair Complete November 23! GLT is back to full service!

November 23. The remanufactured antenna parts made it back from California on November 18. GLT Chief Engineer Mark Hill, Broadcast Tech Travis Meadors reassembled all the bits and, with the help of a great tower crew, reinstalled the antenna late in the day on November 23. See photos of the damages and the repair process.

We're back to full power and full service. All GLT HD channels are also back, including Blues Radio 24/7 on HD 2 and News & Ideas on HD 3.

If you're still having problems receiving our signal, send us your name and email address. We will try to help.

October 1. Lightning hit our broadcast antenna, damaging it, limiting our broadcast signal to McLean County and silencing our HD broadcasts. (All GLT channels are still available as streams from this website.)

October 19. We finally had decent weather, allowing a crew to scale the 400 ft tower and bring down the damaged equipment. That's when we learned the damage was more severe than we originally thought and some equipment would have to be replaced.

October 27. After much discussion with the manufacturer, we shipped the damaged parts to California to be re-fabricated. The damaged parts are very large, so they have to travel by truck.

November 16. The damaged antenna parts are on their wayback to Normal, travelling by truck from California. When they get here, we will be dependent on good weather and tower crew availability to finish the repair and bring GLT back to full FM and HD broadcast power. Hoping it all comes together the week of November 23!

November 19.The antenna center conductor has been remanufactured and shipped and received. We'll put it together to make sure it all fits. The tower crew, weather permitting, will climb high and reconnect the antenna on Monday, Nov. 23rd. After some tests and a little bit of luck, we'll be back on the air serving our previous broadcast area.

November 24. The remanufactured antenna parts made it back from California on November 18. GLT Chief Engineer Mark Hill, Broadcast Tech Travis Meadors reassembled all the bits and, with the help of a great tower crew, reinstalled the antenna late in the day on November 23.

We're back to full power and full service. 89.1 and 103.5 FM are broadcasting as they were before October 1. All GLT HD channels are also back, including Blues Radio 24/7 on HD 2 and News & Ideas on HD 3.
