Bloomington Police say seven vehicles have been stolen in the city since the start of August.

Bloomington Police are reminding drivers to lock their cars following a rash of vehicle thefts.

BPD spokesman Elias Mendiola said police are investigating seven stolen vehicles in the last five weeks, which is higher than the city’s average.

He said in each case, the vehicle was unlocked and the keys were either in the ignition or somewhere else in the car.

Mendiola said the vehicle heists are not contained to any particular area of the city and no arrests have been made. He said several of the vehicles have been recovered.

Police urge drivers to never leave keys, even a spare, inside your vehicle; keep your vehicle locked at all times, even while driving; never leave your vehicle running and unattended and if you use a garage, lock the door leading to the garage.
