EMA Director: No Injury Reports After Tornadoes Spotted

Dec 1, 2018

McLean County emergency management officials were sifting through damage reports Saturday night after several confirmed reports of tornadoes.

McLean County Emergency Management Agency Director Bob Clark told GLT around 8:30 p.m. that there were no reports of fatalities or injuries. There were some reports of damage to barns and other properties, he said. An unoccupied residence in the LeRoy area reportedly sustained damage, Clark said.

"It's just property damage at this point," he said. "We're trying to get a hold of all that we've got."

There were two or three reports of tornadoes in south and eastern McLean County, Clark said. An emergency responder reported seeing a tornado on the ground around 7:20 p.m. northeast of LeRoy. The tornado warnings continued through 8:15 p.m., stretching all the way up eastern McLean County.

McLean County remained under a tornado watch until 9 p.m.

Taylorville in Christian County sustained significant damage from the same tornadic system.
