Fire Investigators say they do not have an immediate cause of the fire that caused extensive damage to the Qik n EZ convenience store on east Vernon Avenue in Normal Tuesday morning.
The business will be closed for an undetermined amount of time, according to the Fire Department.
A police officer reported smoke shortly before 3:00 a.m. The department called in off duty personnel and a Bloomington rapid response unit to combat the flames.
Fire crews said they found no flames in the store proper, but most of the wooden roof trusses above the suspended ceiling were on fire.
It took close to nine hours for firefighters to make sure the last few pockets of fire in the roof and insulation were extinguished.
There were no injuries from the fire.
