Fire Destroys Garage, Vintage Cars In Normal

An overnight fire destroyed a garage and vintage vehicles and motorcycles inside.

Firefighters in Normal were called to the fire at 1212 Wall Street at 2:46 a.m. Thursday.

The fire fully engulfed the detached two-car garage and all of its contents were destroyed.

According to a news release from the Normal Fire Department, the blaze was deemed under control in about 30 minutes, while firefighters remained on scene until about 5 a.m. to put out hot spots.

NFD called in off-duty firefighters to staff stations during the incident, while the Bloomington Fire Department provided mutual aid.

Fire officials say no one was inside the garage at the time of the fire and no one was injured. The cause is still under investigation.

There’s no damage estimate available, but fire officials say the property is insured.
