Illinois State University Homecoming is October 3 through 9, with A Normal Tradition as the theme for this year's festivities.

  • Homecoming includes events not just for the campus community, but for people of all ages in the Twin Cities.
  • Sunday, Oct. 2 is Reggie Day at Miller Park Zoo from 1 to 3 PM.
  • Monday, Oct. 3 at 5:30 PM is the tree lighting ceremony in Uptown Normal, showing the special relationship between the University and the Town of Normal.
  • The Town and Gown 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk is Saturday morning at 8 AM, followed by the Homecoming Parade, tailgating around Hancock Stadium, then the big game against Youngstown State.  Kickoff is at 2 PM.  Go Redbirds! Here's where you can find more information about Homecoming.
Reporter, content producer and former All Things Considered host, Laura Kennedy is a native of the Midwest who occasionally affects an English accent just for the heck of it. Related to two U.S. presidents, Kennedy appalled her family by going into show business.
