About 80 students refused to stand during the singing of the national anthem at Normal Community High School at this year's homecoming assembly. Organizers of the protests said they are concerned about police shootings of African-Americans.

Taking A Knee In Normal

Students at Normal Community High School kneeled during the national anthem at their Homecoming week assembly. Many also wore their Black Lives Matter T-shirts in support of the organization.

Tax Breaks For Businesses

The Normal Town Council has given an $800,000 tax break to a shopping center owned by Phillips Edison. The town expects to see $4.8 million in new sales and tax revenue sparked by the renovations.

Abortion Access Comes To Bloomington

Local women will no longer be forced to travel out of McLean County to receive abortion services from Planned Parenthood. The Planned Parenthood on Veterans Parkway and Clearwater Avenue now offers medication abortions.
