As the Illinois State University Board of Trustees meets and marks it's 20th anniversary, members of the board were thinking of the situation in Springfield. Board Chair Rocky Donahue says during the on-going budget stalemate, when every expenditure is being questioned, ISU is doing it's part. "The budget this board adopted for fiscal year '16 called for a 10% reduction. Over the past two fiscal years, ISU has eliminated, or left vacant more than six dozen,76 positions, resulting in a savings close to $4-Million." ISU Trustees voted to approve refinancing some bonds to capitalize on lower interest rates, saving about $3.5 Million dollars. Plans to turn the former site of Rambo House into an outdoor gathering were also approved, and board members voted to create a Bachelor of Arts program in European studies.
