Unit 5 Announces Two New Hires

Evans Jr. High School

The new Principal at Evans Jr. High school is a familiar face around Unit 5 schools.

Chris McGraw currently serves as the Associate Principal and Athletic Director at Evans.

Unit 5 Superintendent Mark Daniel said McGraw is an energetic and enthusiastic educator who can bring new ideas to the role.

"He's one of our front-runners when it comes to the use of social media and communication which we'll probably have to utilize some of his talents at the district level," said Daniel. "He's that innovative and creative."

Unit Five Schools will also have a new upper level administrator next school year. The district has hired Dr. James Harden to direct Human Resources and Student Services.

Dr. James Harden will be the Executive Director of Human Relations and Student Services for Unit 5.

Daniel said he thinks Harden can be a champion for students.

"One of the things Dr. Harden brings to us is experience in the middle school and high school, but also some of our most challenging districts in Illinois. It's fitting for him to establish and begin to lead what we call student services as well," said Daniel.

The board Wednesday night also approved a contract to bring new science resources to first through fifth grade classrooms.

Board members additionally approved contracts for multiple reroof projects on buildings throughout the district.
