Jay D'Amico Tuscan Prelude (CAP)
Hands down the most beautiful jazz release this year. A gifted songwriter and pianist, D'Amico's classical background is omnipresent in Tuscan Prelude. From the title track to "Sonata Mvt. 1" to "Aria in D" you can hear why fellow pianist Mike Longo lauds D'Amico's gifts of melody and originality. Matt Belsante Blame It On My Youth (Green Hill)
A recent engineering graduate from Vanderbuilt University in Nashville, Belsante used his spare time in the Music City honing his chops with some of the best musicians in the city.
