A 23-year old woman is dead after a vehicle struck her about 5:30 p.m. Monday near Illinois State University.

Police said the pedestrian was hit at College Avenue and Kingsley Street in Normal. The woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon.

Officers issued a ticket to the driver of the vehicle for failing to stop and yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The McLean County Coroner's Office has not yet released the name of the woman who was killed.
