A 48-year-old man is hospitalized and in critical condition after a hit-and-run incident Friday afternoon, according to Bloomington Police.

Police say they were called to the 600 block of East Locust Street around 2 p.m. Friday for a report of a person hit by a vehicle. Bloomington Fire Department paramedics took the man, who has not been identified, to a nearby hospital.

Police say the driver of the vehicle that struck the man was found about 1.5 miles away from the scene.

Deonte Andrews, 28, was arrested on multiple felony charges, four of which were related to driving while under the influence.

Andrews, of Normal, also faces charges of resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license and aggravated reckless driving.

Police say they are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact BPD detective Pedro Diaz at 309-434-2532 or pdiaz@cityblm.org.
