Third Armed Robbery Strikes Normal Auto Parts Store
Normal Police are investigating an armed robbery at an auto parts store—the third holdup in the past month involving two hooded suspects.
The latest robbery happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at O’Reilly Auto Parts on Greenbriar Drive in Normal. The two suspects were described as black males wearing dark clothing with hoodies over their heads. One wore a bandana-type mask over his face. A handgun was displayed, Normal Assistant Police Chief Eric Klingele told GLT.
There have been at least two other armed robberies in recent weeks, both committed by two black males wearing hoods. A knife was used in the April 18 robbery at Subway on Oakland Avenue in east Bloomington. A gun was used in the April 29 robbery at Six Points Food and Liquor in southwest Bloomington.
Bloomington Police say they’re investigating the possibility those two are related.
“It’s hard to tell,” Klingele said, when asked if the same suspects were responsible for Tuesday’s robbery in Normal. “It’s certainly possible,” he said, although there is no photo or video footage available to know for sure.
