30 COVID Patients Hospitalized In McLean County

The McLean County Health Department reports 30 McLean County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19.

Thirty McLean County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19 -- the highest total since mid-January and continuing a six-week trend of increasing hospitalizations.The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) said Tuesday 88% of intensive care beds in Bloomington-Normal are full. That marks the highest percentage since Dec. 29. Eight-seven percent of all hospital beds in the Twin Cities are occupied.

The hospitals currently have 23 COVID patients, according to the health department.

The county reported 29 new confirmed or probable coronavirus cases from a batch of about 500 tests since Monday. McLean County’s seven-day testing positivity rate held steady at 4.9%. That’s higher than state and national averages. The county’s cumulative positivity rate since the start of the pandemic remains 5.6%, based on more than 273,900 tests conducted since the start of the pandemic.

MCHD said 376 people are isolating at home and 47 people have been released from quarantine since Monday. The department said 14,826 people have been considered recovered since last March.

The county has reported 207 COVID related deaths since the pandemic began.

Vaccination update

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDHP), more than 69,500 COVID vaccine doses have been put into arms in McLean County, while more than 23,400 people are considered fully vaccinated.

The county’s rate of fully vaccinated is 13.5%. That trails the state average of 16.6%.
