825 New Tri-County COVID Cases, 10 Deaths Reported Over Weekend

The Tri-County region is reporting 825 additional COVID-19 cases and 10 more deaths over this past weekend.

The deaths include three Peoria County residents and five Tazewell residents not living in long-term care facilities. A woman in her 80s at Villas of Hollybrook Morton and man in his 60s living at Fondulac Rehab in East Peoria also died. Both facilities are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks.

The region now reports 20,256 cases and 287 deaths total since the pandemic broke out in March.

There are 52 people in treatment in the ICU for COVID-19. That's slightly down from last week, but there are 124 people in non-ICU hospital beds in one of the major Peoria-area hospitals. That's an increase of 15 from last week.

Statewide, Illinois public health officials announced 8,691 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, and 90 more deaths.

This brings the total to more than 796,000 cases and 13,300 deaths since the pandemic's outset.

The state's 7-day positivity rate is 11.9 percent.

Currently, nearly 5200 people are hospitalized for COVID; 1,100 are in the ICU, and nearly 650 are on ventilators.
