Barnett Sworn In On McLean County Board

Josh Barnett

New McLean County Board member Josh Barnett said he has already met with all the committee chairs on the board.

Barnett was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Ben Owens.

Barnett had already defeated Owens in the GOP primary this year and was sworn in Tuesday.

Barnett said he looks forward to going through the budget process and get up to spead with county department heads. He says he's also pleased with his assignments to the Land Use, Property, and Transportation committees.

"I'm passionate, you could say, about our transportation needs, especially in our rural areas. It's very important to have a holistic focus and I want to be sure our rural roads and our relationships with the townships and with the road commissioners remain strong," said Barnett.

Barnett championed transparency during his primary contest. He said he's still advocating for evening meetings to allow more working age people to run for office. He also wants county government to use more social media and improve its web site.

Barnett said he will get his feet wet on the board by going through the budgeting process next month.
