Bloomington Police Chief finalists Dan Donath and Bill Colbrook laugh at the end of their community meet-and-greet last week.

Bloomington City Manager Tim Gleason has scheduled a Wednesday morning news conference at city hall where he plans to announce his pick to become the city's next police chief.
Gleason announced last week he had selected two finalists: co-interim chief Dan Donath and Parkland College Police Chief Bill Colbrook.

The two met with the public at an open house in Bloomington last week, where they discussed their plans to address gun violence, concerns among the immigrant community and ways they would seek to lead the department.

Donath has been sharing the interim police chief rolewith fellow assistant chief Greg Scott.

Gleason named a search committee of city and community leaders to review more than 60 applications and interview eight candidates.

Clay Wheeler retired as the city's police chief in June.
