Bond has been set at $1.5 million for Michael Dyer on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a Peoria man last week.
Dyer's bond hearing was held Thursday afternoon before Peoria County Judge Albert Purham. Dyer, 58, of Peoria, was assigned a public defender and his arraignment has been scheduled for Feb. 25. He will need to post 10% of the bond for his release from Peoria County Jail.
He is accused of killing Jeffrey Blevins, 49, who was found dead in a vehicle in the 8300 block of North Knoxville last Friday. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Blevins suffered a fatal gunshot to his upper body.
Peoria Police arrested Dyer on Tuesday at the Macon County Jail in Decatur, where he was in custody on unrelated charges.
Blevins had been reported missing several days before his body was discovered. He owned and operated a tree-trimming business, Blevins Tree Service.
