Bradley University Shuts Down For Remainder of Spring Semester

Bradley University students will not be returning to class after spring break.

President Gary Roberts said classes will remain online for the rest of the spring semester as a step to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Roberts also said the spring commencement ceremony set for Saturday, May 16 is canceled.

"There is so much happening that we do not have all the answers right now. We know actions taken out of an abundance of caution can feel stressful, but it has been our sincere desire to do the best to support you through these challenging times," Roberts wrote in a letter to students, faculty, and staff. "These are not decisions we want to make and we understand some may be disappointing. We have, however, come to these decisions with the best interest of the Bradley family as our top priority."

Students are asked to return home if they haven't already done so. Roberts says personal possessions will be kept safe for students who still need to move items out.

Most Bradley employees will work remotely starting Thursday. Roberts said he's heard from many staff with job security concerns. He said the university is "committed to getting through this together with as little disruption to our workforce as possible."
