Bustos Hopes Appropriation Bills Pass GOP-Controlled Senate

U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos says she hopes funding legislation she recently helped push through the House makes it through the Republican-controlled Senate.

Bustos is a Democrat who serves on the House Appropriations Committee. She said she hopes Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell doesn’t play partisan politics with the bills.

“He happens to be bragging about the fact that he calls himself the Grim Reaper, that he is sending legislation, which I consider good legislation, to what he calls the graveyard. I think that is not what anybody in America wants from their senator or from whoever represents them," she said.

Bustos said the bills include funding to staff the Peoria Ag Lab with new permanent scientist positions, provides grants to help with combined sewer overflow problems, and build a new fire station for the Peoria Air National Guard.
