Chicago Pastors Say Rahm Betrayed Them

A group of South Side pastors say they feel betrayed by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel in his handling of a video showing a white police officer killing a black teenager. IPR’s Michael Puente reports.

More than a dozen black pastors say they want to know if the mayor tried to prevent the
video’s release prior to his re-election campaign last spring. Many of the pastors endorsed Emanuel.

Bishop James Dukes took exception to Emanuel’s reason for not stepping down.

DUKES: His aggressiveness to say let the voters speak in three years. Well, the voters who just spoke to put you in office in April are speaking now and we’re aren’t going to wait three years to hold you accountable for what you already knew.

The pastors are calling for an outside investigation.  I'm Michael Puente.
