McLEAN COUNTY SEES 1 NEW COVID-19 CASE; EIGHT MORE RECOVERED
1:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 13

McLean County health officials announced one new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, somewhat stemming a recent spike in cases caused in part by a private gathering of Illinois State University studentsand an outbreak at a long-term care facility.

The newest case is of a male in his 20s. He is in isolation at home.

The McLean County Health Department said the county's total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 127 because the county determined one resident from an earlier case lives outside McLean County.

The department noted eight more COVID-19 patients have recovered, bringing that total to 101. Six people remain hospitalized and 17 are isolating at home.

Health officials attributed at least part of the recent rise in cases to increased testing at the mobile clinic at the Interstate Center on Bloomington's west side. Testing reached the 250-person capacity on Tuesday, the day after the state of Illinois announced the testing sitewas moving to Peoria.

After pushback from local officials, Gov. JB Pritzker agreed on Wednesday to keep the drive-thru site open through May 22.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 3,791 McLean County residents have received either the COVID-19 diagnostic test or antibody test.

The state reported 1,677 coronavirus cases and 191 deaths on Wednesday. The state has had 84,698 COVID-19 cases and 3,792 deaths.
