UPDATED 7 p.m. | Authorities said Thursday that a fire which killed five people at a Goodfield mobile home was intentionally set and that a juvenile suspect is being questioned.
The fire happened April 6 at the Timberline Trailer Court. Pronounced dead at the scene were relatives Kathryn Murray, 69, Jason Wall, 34, Rose Alwood, 2, Damien Wall, 2, and Ariel Wall, 1. Two others were taken to a hospital and released.
The five deaths were all ruled homicides, Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman said Thursday. That's based on an investigation by the Woodford County sheriff's office, Woodford County coroner, Eureka Goodfield Fire Department, Illinois State Police, the Office of the Fire Marshal, and Woodford County state's attorney.
"It is believed that the fire was intentionally started," Ruestman said. "The deaths remain part of an active investigation and a juvenile is being questioned."
Woodford County State's Attorney Greg Minger said he is awaiting final forensic results before filing charges.
