The 33-year-old man whose body was found in a creek near Constitution Trail west of Veterans Parkway died from drowning, the McLean County coroner said Thursday.

Marcus D. Bivens was pronounced dead at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday after being found in the creek, Coroner Kathy Davis said in a statement. There was no assault, strangulation, infection, recent significant trauma, or tumor, Davis said. Toxicology results are pending, she said.

Bivens' death remains under investigation by Normal Police and the coroner's office.

Police responded around 4 p.m. Wednesday after being told a body had been found in the creek, just south of the Shoppes at College Hills, and near several businesses including Jason's Deli, Steak 'n Shake, and a Qik-n-EZ gas station. Normal Police Chief Rick Bleichner said the location of the body was not easily visible from the trail. He said there are some overgrown trees that obscure the area.

Police are asking anyone who traveled through this area, including the Constitution Trail, over the past three days and believes they may have information about this death to contact Normal Detective Brad Park at (309) 454-9527 or bpark@normal.org.
