McLean County's testing positivity rate continued to fall Sunday, even as 44 new coronavirus cases were reported.
The county's testing positivity rate (7-day average) is now 2.6%, according to the McLean County Health Department. That's the lowest it's been since Aug. 17, when college students began their fall semester in Bloomington-Normal. That led to a spike in COVID-19 cases and in the positivity rate. Both have since subsided.
There are now eight people hospitalized (unchanged from Saturday), including one in intensive care. There are 230 others who are isolating at home.
Illinois State University reported two new student cases on Sunday, bringing its total to 1,349 COVID-positive students this semester. All but 27 have already recovered.
ISU has tested 1,003 students in the past week. That's short of its 1,500-student weekly surveillance testing goal.
