Ecuador Quake Alarms Bloomington Native

Twitter

Hundreds have died. Thousands are injured; tens of thousands left homeless by the major earthquake in Ecuador. Bloomington native Ryan Kern is working in mountainous Quito for an NGO called Me To We. We should let you know Ryan is the son of GLT News Director Willis Kern. The hardest hit areas were on the coast, not the Amazon basin or the Andes Mountains. Charlie Schlenker talked by Skype with Ryan Kern, who says even in Quito the quake was alarming.

WGLT Senior Reporter Charlie Schlenker has spent more than three award-winning decades in radio. He lives in Normal with his family.
