An 80-year-old Peoria woman died Tuesday due to cold weather exposure.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Joyce Hexdall was found in her home with significant signs of frostbite. She didn't have an operating furnace or any other heat source.
Harwood says people should check on their elderly friends and neighbors often to ensure their safety and well-being.
Wind chills dropped below zero in Peoria on Monday.
