EP Police Debunk The "Suspicious Van at Kroger" Rumors

The East Peoria Police Department is pouring cold water on a persistent social media rumor of a suspicious white van full of possible kidnappers in the Kroger parking lot.

Deputy Chief Rick Brodrick said the van in question is in fact owned by Kroger, and the people inside the van are Kroger employees engaged in their work.

“People should verify information they see on social media with official sources to learn if it is accurate rather than sharing these posts and spreading rumors,” said Brodrick.

Brodrick said there have been zero kidnapping reports in East Peoria. Anyone with safety concerns is encouraged to call police.
