Police are looking for the public’s help finding three suspects who fled a stolen vehicle that injured a bicyclist in a hit-and-run on Bloomington’s west side.

The stolen vehicle sped off around 10:30 p.m. Friday as officers approached near Jefferson and Allin streets, police said. Soon after, witnesses told police that the stolen vehicle—with its headlights off—struck a 17-year-old boy riding a bicycle just to the north at Allin and Locust streets, police said.

The hospitalized bicyclist’s condition is unknown and the family requests privacy, police said.

Witnesses in the 900 block of North Roosevelt Street then reported seeing three black teenagers exit the stolen vehicle and flee on foot. The teenagers were described as about 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall. The vehicle, which was stolen from Urbana, was later recovered, police said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bloomington Detective Moreland at (309) 434-2359 or smoreland@cityblm.org. If you wish to remain anonymous, please call McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.
