Central Illinois Institutions are preparing for Winter Storm Jupiter.

Heartland Community College has announced it will close all weekend. The school on Raab Road in Normal is already set to be closed Monday for the Martin Luther King Holiday.

Ameren Illinois has also announced it has opened its Emergency Operations Center to coordinate efforts to restore power outages that may happen because of the storm expected to involve freezing rain. The company says customers should call Ameren Illinois at 800-755-5000 to report a downed line or natural gas odor.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the GLT listening area from Saturday night to Sunday night. Freezing rain is expected to begin Friday evening in some areas.
