Illinois State University celebrates Homecoming week Oct. 16-22, with a variety of events to engage the whole community.
- The theme for ISU Homecoming this year is Building a Legacy.
- The Uptown tree-lighting ceremony traditionally kicks off Homecoming week. ISU President Larry Dietz and Mayor Chris Koos light the trees in Uptown Normal. The Big Red Marching Machine and the ISU cheerleaders will perform in Uptown Circle.
- The annual Town and Gown 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk kicks off Saturday at 8 a.m. in front of the Student Fitness Center.
- That's followed by the Homecoming Parade at 10 a.m. If you can't attend, you can watch it on ISU's Facebook page.
- There's tailgating in various ISU parking lots.
- Then the big game begins at 2 p.m. The ISU Redbirds take on the South Dakota Coyotes. Go Redbirds!
