History Of Voter Suppression Long And Virulent

Creative Commons

History and Fine Arts at Illinois State University are doing a collaborative election series this year. In the series is a session on voter suppression in America.

Vanessa Schulman is an art historian and Amy Wood is in the Department of History.

In a lecture on Tuesday, at ISU's Center for Visual Arts, they will approach how the history of voter suppression in America is reflected in this year's election.

GLT's Charlie Schlenker spoke with both Schulman and Amy Wood, who says voter suppression has been on the upswing since the Supreme Court weakened the Voting Rights Act.
