Agents with the Department of Homeland Security's Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Department raided a Peoria business on Wednesday.
Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Carissa Cutrell said Homeland Security Investigations special agents were at L&T Technology Services, 8200 N. Allen Road, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Agents arrived on scene around 10 a.m. and left by 3:30 p.m., Cutrell said. She declined to comment further.
L&T Technology Services is a subsidiary of the India-based Larsen & Toubro Ltd. multinational corporation. L&T Technology specializes in engineering services.
The company has been under some suspicion of links to a bribery case involving New Jersey-based IT company Cognizant. The company allegedly paid an undisclosed construction company $2 million to bribe Indian officials for building permits. L&T was the construction company for that project, according to the Economic Times of India. That deal reportedly involved American executives.
L&T CEO SN Subrahmanyan told the Economic Times in March that Cognizant is unfairly blaming his company.
