The Illinois Symphony Orchestra rolls out its Holiday pops offering this Sunday at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.
Fifteen different holiday and Americana works are on the program at three p.m.
Concert Comments from conductor Andrew Sewell and Sarah Lawrence at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, before the performance. A number of local music and dance groups will participate including the Bloomington-Normal Youth Symphony.
Andrew Sewell is also a finalist for the permanent job of Music Director at the ISO.
Classical music conductors have different musical heritages and approaches to music making. Some people are influenced by baroque music, others find inspiration in chamber music. Sewell is from New Zealand. In this interview with GLT's Charlie Schlenker, Sewell said that does have a cultural influence on him.
