IWU Prepares To Name New President

Illinois Wesleyan University is getting set to name its next President. The school in Bloomington has announced a news conference Monday to unveil the selection to replace Richard Wilson. The search has been ongoing since Wilson announced in December of last year that he would retire when a successor was named.

Two candidates attended campus forums last week. They are Eric Jensen, the Provost at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota and Larry Stimpert, the Vice President of Academic Affairs for Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Stimpert and Jensen are both Economics Professors as well. Stimpert had spent 17 years at Colorado College before going into administration at Depauw. Jensen has worked at  the College of William and Mary, the College Board, the East West Center, and the U-S Agency for International Development.

The new Illinois Wesleyan President is expected to take the post in November.

President Wilson announced in December of 2014 he would step down after overseeing numerous campus building projects, a record setting fundraising campaign, and trying to shepherd IWU through problems common to higher education....enrollment stress, rising tuition, and cost containment.
