Juvenile Arrested For Weekend Double Homicide In Peoria

Peoria Public Radio
Bradley University pre-med major Nasjay Murry, 18, was killed last weekend.

Peoria Police have made an arrest in last weekend's shooting that killed two at a house party.

A 16-year-old was arrested without incident about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 2700 block of West Trewyn.

Bradley University pre-med major Nasjay Murry, 18, from Chicago and Anthony Polnitz, 22, of Peoria were shot and killed about 1:40 a.m. Sunday at a crowded house party at the corner of Bradley and Western avenues. Another female Bradley student was injured in that shooting.

Police are not releasing his name of the young man in custody based on his juvenile status. He is being held at the juvenile detention center and is charged with first-degree murder.

Police say the 16-year-old suspect was arrested in the 2700 block of West Trewyn. John W. Bell III lived in that same block. Bell, 24, was killed at the corner of Wyoming and Oregon streets about five hours before the house party shooting. Bell was shot 10 times around 9:10 p.m. Saturday, twice in the back of the head, with six penetrating wounds.

The Peoria County coroner says Bell died on the sidewalk in front of a church.
