Kim Bray To Run In Bloomington's Ninth Ward

The announced candidate for Alderman in Bloomington's ninth ward says she sees a good dynamic among members at Council meetings and that Mayor Tari Renner runs a good meeting.

State Farm lawyer Kim Bray said she also has no particular problem with city operations."I have seen generally an efficiency there. But, I'd like to look and see if there are more efficiencies to be gained. I am not running because I think there is something wrong. I'm running to help my neighbors and give back to the community," said Bray.

Bray did say the city needs to figure out a way to lower response times for fire and ambulance service in the ninth ward.

"Ward nine in particular needs to turn its attention toward our first responder systems and our fire services and make sure that we have the best solutions in play," said Bray.

Bray said the longer response times in her east side ward are a function of geography, not the fault of firefighters.

She said she would look at potential proposals for a downtown hotel and conference center based on the numbers.

Bray is a mother of three and has community service experience in leadership at Saint Mathew's Episcopal Church, with the Immigration Project, as a moot court judge for the Bar Association, and with Special Olympics.

Alderman Jim Fruin recently announced he would not run again.
