UPDATED 11 a.m. | McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder has identified the driver who was killed in a one-car crash Thursday morning near LeRoy.
Ryan Ploense, 36, of LeRoy, died after the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and he was thrown from the vehicle on 3200 East near 600 North Road northeast of LeRoy, according to a news release from Yoder and McLean County Sheriff Jon Sandage.

Yoder said the coroner’s office was notified of the crash at 5:48 a.m. Thursday.

She said preliminary autopsy results show Ploense died of head and neck injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle, she said.

The sheriff’s office, LeRoy police, fire and ambulance units also responded to the crash scene.

The sheriff's office and coroner's office said the crash remains under investigation.
