It doesn't take much to scare people. And that's good news for the creative minds behind Milner Library's 2-Sentence Horror Story contest.

Illinois State University students, faculty, and staff were asked to submit their best super-short horror stories, in 400 characters or less.

Winners were chosen in several categories, including Best Story, Funniest Stories, Best Student Submissions, and Best Employee Submissions. Here are the Best Story winners:

"There are times in the study rooms that I am alone, the door firmly shut behind me. But then I hear each syllable of my name whispered in time with the tick of the analog clock." - Undergraduate Student "I couldn’t sleep, the baby just kept crying and crying all night. I live alone." - Emily, Undergraduate Student

Winners will receive Milner swag and stories will be shared on Milner's social media Friday and Saturday.
