A man is dead after a hit-and-run accident in South Peoria just after midnight Monday.
The Peoria Police Department responded to the 2300 block of W. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. around 12:15 a.m. to find a man down in a driveway. Police said it appeared he was hit by a vehicle.
He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The man was identified as 58-year-old John Harvey of Peoria. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
The suspect vehicle didn't remain on scene. A witness described a silver sedan headed westbound on MLK. The vehicle likely has front bumper damage, hood damage, and possible windshield damage.
