A rural Edelstein man pleaded not guilty Monday to the murder of a Peoria County woman.
Tiffini Murphy, 38, was last seen alive at the former Casey's gas station in Lacon last September. Gary C. Berchtold, 39, is charged with killing her and scattering her remains.
Her remains were found on the Peoria County side of County Line Road last month.
Berchtold requested a jury trial in Marshall County Court yesterday. He's due back in court on Oct. 2 for a pre-trial hearing.
