MCHD Confirms 146 COVID-19 Cases; Positivity Rate Drops To 8.1%

The McLean County Health Department is reporting 146 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, as the county’s testing positivity rate fell nearly two percentage points to 8.1%.There are now 25 people from McLean County hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of four patients overnight. Another 849 people are isolating at home, while an additional 147 are now considered recovered.

Hospital capacity is largely unchanged. Currently, 69% of intensive care beds are in use, while 17% of total beds are open.

Nearly half of the 614 cases confirmed in McLean County in the past week were among people under age 30. That includes 133 college-age people in their late teens and 20s, as well as 109 kids under age 17. Five cases were confirmed among infants.

People in their 50s accounted for 92 cases, while those in their 40s accounted for 71 and people in their 60s accounted for 62. Older adults in their 70s, 80s and 90s made up 54 cases. That age group accounted for all but two of the 13 deaths reported in the county this week.
