McLean County reported six new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

McLean County health officials announced six new coronavirus cases on Tuesday in one of the largest single-day increases in cases since the pandemic began.
The McLean County Health Department reported all six of the newly confirmed cases are females: one in her 60s, ones in her 40s, two in their 30s and two in their 20s. All are isolating at home, according to the department.

To date, the county has confirmed 127 COVID-19 cases. Five of the patients are hospitalized while 26 are isolating. The 31 active cases marks the county’s highest total since April 13.

The county saw no new coronavirus cases on Monday, but the total number of cases has increased 28% since May 1.

Nearly three-fourths of the county’s COVID-19 patients have recovered. Three patients have died.

The increased number of cases could be partly the result of increased testing in the county, even as Bloomington is set to lose its federally-funded mobile testing site on Thursday.

The state of Illinois reported a single-day high of 4,014 coronavirus cases and 144 deaths on Tuesday, including two Sangamon County women in their 80s.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports the state has 83,021 COVID-19 cases and 3,601 deaths.
