McLean County announced three new COVID-19 cases on Monday.

UPDATED 3:20 P.M. | McLean County health officials announced three new COVID-19 cases on Monday to bring the county’s total of confirmed cases to 102.
The new cases are the first for the county since Friday. According to the McLean County Health Department, two patients are hospitalized and 12 patients are in home isolation, while 85 have already recovered. Three have died.

Health Department Director Jessica McKnight said the county remains in the plateau stage of new cases.

“It’s showing us what we were already aware of is that COVID-19 is still here,” she said. “Testing is increasing in our community, at the (McLean County) Fairgrounds especially, but we anticipate seeing more results.”

The COVID-19 testing site at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington had its busiest day on Friday as 200 tests were administered after the federal government allowed for critical infrastructure workers such as grocery and restaurant workers to be tested, even if they don’t have symptoms. And 191 were tested over the weekend, the highest weekend total yet.

McKnight said the higher testing numbers are encouraging.

“We still have COVID in our community, so testing will continue, but we could make assumptions that is why -- the loosened testing criteria may we why we are seeing more individuals utilizing the testing site,” she said.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,341 coronavirus cases and 46 deaths on Monday. The deaths include a Sangamon County woman over 100 years old and an Iroquois County woman in her 60s. The state has confirmed 63,840 cases and 2,662 deaths.
