Milita: Sanders Has Work To Do

While he's not endorsing his opponent in the Democratic presidential race just yet, Bernie Sanders has a lot of work to do between now and the convention. That's according to Illinois State University political scientist Kerri Milita.

She said Sanders needs to find a way to persuade the 15 to 25 percent of his supporters who say they'll vote for Donald Trump over Sanders' party rival Hillary Clinton.

"These are the new, young voters that have just gotten involved in his campaign who are very angry and discouraged. That's who he's going to need to address, coming forward," Milita said.

Milita said she would be surprised to see Sanders  on the Democratic presidential ticket. She said Clinton needs more electoral help than Sanders can provide, and Sanders probably wouldn't accept the vice presidential slot anyway.

"That's very antithetical to what his campaign was about, which was anti-establishment, anti-insider. And to suddenly come on board with the insider team, I think would definitely send the wrong message for his political revolution," she added.
