More Than 1,000 COVID-19 Cases, 8 Deaths, Reported in Tri-County Over Weekend

The Tri-County region reports 1,043  new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, and eight more deaths.

That includes three Peoria County residents and five from Tazewell County.

The Peoria County fatalities include a woman in her 80s living at Heritage Health in Chillicothe, and a woman in her 60s and man in his 80s who didn't reside at long-term care facilities.

In Tazewell County, deaths in the last 24 hours linked to COVID-19 include a woman in her 60s at Generations at Riverview in East Peoria; a man and woman, both in their 90s, at Washington Senior Living; a man in his 80s at Apostolic Christian Living in Peoria, and a woman in her 80s who didn't live at a long-term care facility.

Currently, 189 people are hospitalized for COVID, including 43 confirmed or suspected cases being  treated in a Peoria-area intensive care unit.

Nearly 29% of cases in Peoria, Tazewell, or Woodford counties reported since the beginning of the pandemic are currently in home isolation. About 70% are considered recovered.
