Tri-County health officials reported almost 300 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, as Gov. JB Pritzker announced increased statewide restrictions on businesses as the pandemic rages.

The number of coronavirus patients in Peoria’s four major hospitals dipped slightly to 160, but the number of people from Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties who are isolating at home with the disease increased to 4,058.

The region has recorded 13,525 cases since the start of the pandemic--an increase of 293 from Monday. No new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, but 41 patients are being treated in intensive care units.

Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 12,601 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the state, and an additional 97 deaths. Those figures bring the statewide totals to 597,849 illnesses and 10,875 fatalities.

As of Monday night, 5,887 Illinoisans were hospitalized with COVID-19, including more than 1,158 in ICUs and 545 on ventilators. The state’s preliminary seven-day positivity rate through Nov. 16 is 14.5%.
